Prawn balchao
Ingredients
- Tiger Prawns – 1.2 kg with shells
- Red Chillies – 60 gm
- Cinnamon sticks – 15 gm
- Cumin seeds – 10 gm
- Ginger – 10 gm
- Garlic – 30 gm
- Sugar – 15 gm
- Toddy vinegar – 100 ml
- Oil – 100 ml
- Onions (chopped) – 500 gm
- Tomatoes (diced) – 300 gm
- Goan prawn powder – 50 gm
- Salt – to taste
Instructions
- Peel and devein the tiger prawns and keep aside.
- Grind the chillies, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, garlic, sugar, toddy vinegar and salt to a fine paste.
- Sauté onions and tomatoes for 15 min, then add the balchao paste. Cook over a slow fire till oil appears on the edges.
- Add the prawns and cook till done.
- Add prawn powder to enrich the taste and aroma.
